Rising British singer Ro Jordan has just released her first new track of 2021, “Northern Lights”, a gorgeous synth ballad that oozes atmosphere and style.
After releasing her debut album, “Kiddo”, in 2018, Ro has busied herself with a number of new single releases, with “Northern Lights”, perhaps her most powerful yet…
“Northern Lights” reaches a new level of story-telling in songwriting, creating an audible movie-type romance that completely encapsulates the listener, taking them on a cinematic journey of electro and synth pop coupled with Ro’s absorbing and juicy vocals. The lyrics explore this idea of being hypnotised, almost blinded by infatuation with someone, as you become stuck in the ‘Honeymoon phase’. By using metaphorical lyricism, Ro cleverly disguises the “Northern Lights” as actually being the colours of her partner’s eyes.
“Northern Lights” comes in the wake of another outstanding down-tempo moment with “Been Here Before”, last year as well as the sexy and sassy “Colourblind”. These three tracks only confirm Ro as one of the brightest new artists around who deserves to be heard by a much wider audience. Her easy to escape to sound and her accessable voice allow the listener to fall very quickly under her spell and soak up her output thus far. Keep an eye on Ro, the Leicester based songewriter may well be catching a jet place across ‘the pond’ very soon…!
