Robyn

COVER vs ORIGINAL: ‘Dancing On My Own’

The song, “Dancing On My Own”, was originally recorded by Robyn in 2010

Swedish singer Robyn co-wrote the song “Dancing On My Own”. It was released as the lead single from her fifth studio album, “Body Talk part 1”, in April 2010 and immediately found favour with critics and fans alike. The song peaked at No.3 on the US dance chart and although it didn’t break the commercial sales chart, it has sold over a million copies there. It did make the top spot at home, No.8 in the UK and No.3 on the Dance chart there.

British singer Calum Scott recorded a ballad version of the song for his debut album, “Only Human“. His recording was released as a single in April 2016 and did break the US singles chart at No.93, where it has gone on to sell over three million copies. It reached No.2 in the UK and No.4 in Robyn’s home country, Sweden, as well as becoming a top ten hit in a further ten countries worldwide.

But whose version is the best? ROBYN’s original or CALUM’s cover?
