It’s been three years since British singer Roselien last graced us with music, but after time to reflect and compose herself (and music), she returns with “Not My Fantasy”.
The catchy and hypnotic electro pop tune reflects on a dysfunctional relationship, drawing from Funk, R&B, rare groove and jazz influences.
Roselien is really going for it this time after so long in the shadows and makes a statement with her self-produced and self-programmed single. In the accompanying video, Roselien dances her heart out backed by a diverse team of female contemporary dancers. In the background, male acrobats and martial artists show their skills to visually portray a desperate attempt to save a relationship that’s already lost. Their reckless actions are in sharp contrast to the elegance that shines through in Roselien and the dancers’ movements.
The London based artist made her debut with “Truth” in 2017 and after her follow up, “Loving” and a few mixes, made her escape to contemplate and compose her next move. That finally materialises with the sassy, fight-back mantra “Not My Fantasy”, which is the first single to come from her brand new EP, “Seventh Ascension”. Welcome back, Roselien, and make sure you check out the incredible visual, released today!:
