Pre-Christmas choon, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”, was written by Edward Pola (1907-1995) and George Wyle (1916-2003) and recorded by American crooner Andy Williams for his 1963 festive album, “The Andy Williams Christmas Album”. The song was actually released in October of 1963 but it has taken many Christmases and many decades for it to continually make an appearance on the singles charts around the world and as of 2021, had peaked at No.7 in America, No.17 in the UK and reached the top twenty in a further eighteen countries around the world with many millions of copies sold.
“It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” has been recorded by a number of artists for their own ‘holiday’ albums, including Johnny Mathis in 1986, Garth Brooks in 1999, who released his version commercially, Harry Connick Jnr. in 2008, US Christian rock group, BarlowGirl, also in 2008, and Australian pop Queen, Kylie Minogue, in 2015 for her seasonal album, “Kylie Christmas” and its 2016 follow up, “Snow Queen Edition“, who has given some show-stopping performances of the song in her own inimitable style.
