FIFTY years after they released their debut single, “Vicious Circle”, Chris Amoo and Dave Smith of Liverpool group, The Real Thing, are back and have released a new album, “A Brand New Day”, together with the single, “A True Reflection”.
“Vicious Circle” was not a hit and nor were the six follow up singles. It took “You To Me Are Everything” in 1976 to give them their breakout hit. The song topped the UK singles chart and was followed with further hits, “Can’t Get By Without You” and “Can You Feel The Force?”.
Chris and Dave have continued to record and play live at 70’s and 80’s festivals over the past two decades, now reduced to a duo following the deaths of original band members Ray Lake in 2000 and Eddie Amoo in 2018, while covers of “You To Me Are Everything” have kept the memory of The Real Thing alive since its own release, 46 years ago.
