THEN & NOW: Pet Shop Boys and New Order

The Pet Shop Boys have recently got together with Soft Cell for an electro-synth 80’s fest, so perhaps it was only expected that they would next hook up with that other great 80’s ‘electronic’ group, New Order…after all, this is not the first time Neil and Bernard have worked together!

The two ‘veterans’ of pop have come together for a tour of the US and Canada titled, The Unity Tour, and their special guest is DJ and producer Paul Oakenfold for the nine-date tour that sweeps from late September and throughout October. They will then bring the same show to the UK next Summer playing a number of dates during June and July 2023.

Neil and Bernard formed the ‘hobby’ group Electronic with Johnny Marr in 1989 and enjoyed chart hits with “Getting Away With It” (1989) and “Disappointed” (1992) and achieved three top ten albums for the duration of the ‘supergroup’ before calling it a day in 2001. New Order’s most recent album was “Music Complete” in 2015 while Chris and Neil dished up “Hotspot” in 2020 and have recently fulfilled their Dreamworld greatest hits tour during 2021-22.
