Hazell Dean whos leaving who

COVER vs ORIGINAL: ‘Who’s Leaving Who?’

The song, “Who’s Leaving Who?”, was originally recorded by Anne Murray in 1986

“Who’s Leaving Who?” was written by Jack White (b.1940) and Mark Spiro (b.1957) for Canadian singer Anne Murray (b.1945) in 1986. It was recorded for her album “Something To Talk About” and the track was released as the second single in April that year. It peaked at No.93 on the Canadian chart and No.26 on the US Adult Contemporary chart.

The song was given a Euro-beat Pop makeover by British producers Stock Aitken Waterman in 1988 when the song was recorded with Hazell Dean for her album, “Always”. Her version was released in March that year and became a huge international hit, making No.4 in the UK – Hazell’s joint highest charting single with “Whatever I Do, Wherever I Go” – as well as becoming her most charted single throughout Europe along with “Searchin'” (1984). A new remix of the song came out in 2001.

But which version is the best? ANNE’s original or HAZELL’s cover?
