Clark Datchler

THEN & NOW: ‘Shattered Dreams’

Johnny Hates Jazz singer Clark Datchler has just released a new version of the band’s biggest hit, “Shattered Dreams”, in support of the charity Poland Welcomes. The organisation runs shelters for refugees escaping the war in Ukraine. Clark is donating all proceeds from downloads and streaming of the song to the chartity.

The new music video to “Shattered Dreams Of Ukraine” finds Clark at the piano and features many photographs of the conflict taken by Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Carol Guzy.

“Shattered Dreams” was the breakout single for the trio of Clark, Mike Nocito and Calvin Hayes in early 1987, making No.5 in the UK and No.2 in America the following year. It was the first of five hits from the band’s debut album, “Turn Back The Clock”, which topped the album chart at the beginning of 1988.
