The song, “See The Day”, was originally recorded by Dee C. Lee in 1985
British singer Dee C. Lee wrote and recorded the song “See The Day” in 1985 for her debut album, “Shrine”. The track was released as the lead single in October that year and went to No.3 in the UK, her highest charting solo single, and No.5 in Australia. The track also charted across Europe and in New Zealand.
“See The Day” was covered by Girls Aloud in 2005 when they recorded the song for their album “Chemistry”. Their version was released as the third single in December as a contender for that year’s Christmas number one, but in the end the song peaked at No.9. Perhaps most people had bought the album, which had been released a week before and sold over 300,000 copies.
But which version is the best? DEE C. LEE’s original or GIRLS ALOUD’s cover?
