THEN & NOW: Take That Acoustic – A 30 Year Window

With the announcement of a brand new Take That album, “This Life”, and a stadium tour planned for 2024, the trio have released the first single from it, “Windows”, which is accompanied with an acoustic version and video, and not for the first time!

Gary, Mark and Howard are set to release the ninth album under the Take That banner, their first since 2017’s “Wonderland“, this Winter after spending time topping up their own respective solo careers with rich material. “Windows” finds them in an ever maturing style and a far cry from the boyband image they arrived in 1991 with “Do What U Like”. The track is a killer Take That lead single, much as “Patience” and “Greatest Day” also were previously.

“Windows” is also released with a studio acoustic version of the track, something ‘the boys’ had done thirty years previously with the lead single from their 1993 album, “Everything Changes”. Then with the full compliment of five members, Take That claimed their very first number one single with “Pray” in 1993 and they also offered up a studio acoustic version of the track as well.

1993 was Take That’s best year yet with a total of three number one singles (“Relight My Fire” and “Babe” the other two) as well as their first chart topping album, which would go on to be certified quadruple Platinum in the UK, having spent the previous two years fighting for survival and building their fanbase, many of whom are still ‘Thatters’ to this day.
