So this was the chart that Radio 1 DJ Bruno Brookes broadcast from 4pm-7pm with data from the GALLUP computer based on record sales from Monday 13th to Saturday 18th December 1993.

This is how the charts USED to look with new entries, climbers and non-movers, all based solely on record purchases.
This week, thirty years ago, there were two new entrys, two re-entry’s, nineteen climbers and two non-movers! And it was announced like this…

We kick off the Christmas chart with a re-entry from last year’s Christmas number one from Whitney and the first single from The Bodyguard!

39. UB40 – “Bring Me Your Cup”
Going down eight this week are UB40 with the follow up to their massive number one, but where will it be on the end of year chart?

2. Take That – “Babe”
It’s last week’s highest new entry from Take That! The boy’s third chart topper drops off and slips down one place in week two.

1. Mr. Blobby – “Mr. Blobby”
Which means going back up one and back to the top is Mr. Blobby, who becomes Christmas number one for 1993! But will he be there for the New Year chart, or will Take That take over again, or perhaps Chaka Demus and Pliers will claim their very first number one. There’s only one way to find out…
