UK Top 40 Singles Chart for Sunday 13th February 1994

So this was the chart that Radio 1 DJ Bruno Brookes broadcast from 4pm-7pm with data from the GALLUP computer based on record sales from Monday 7th to Saturday 12th February 1994.

This is how the charts USED to look with new entries, climbers and non-movers, all based solely on record purchases.
This week, thirty years ago, there were fourteen new entrys, one climber and no non-movers! And it was announced like this…

40. Bill Tarmey – “Wind Beneath My Wings”
Jack Duckworth aka actor Bill Tarmey returns to the UK top 40 this week with his version of this song that last appeared in 1989 with Bette Midler.

39. Urban Species – “Spiritual Love”
The Urban Species fall four places with their new entry from last week, which was their first to make the top 40.

38. East 17 – “It’s Alright”
Could this be the last week for East 17 with this track that surfaced back in November last year? The boys fall thirteen places.

37. Tori Amos – “Cornflake Girl”
Tori Amos can only muster five weeks with the lead single from her new album and she’s down a hefty twenty two places.

36. Carleen Anderson – “Nervous Breakdown”
They keep falling down, including new entry Carleen Anderson from last week with her debut solo single, which drops nine.

35. D-Mob and Cathy Dennis – “Why?”
As do D-Mob and Cathy Dennis, who fall twelve places with their first collaboration since early 1990. Wanna know why?

34. Rozalla – “I Love Music”
Three weeks on and Rozalla still loves music but not as much as she did as her latest is down thirteen places.

33. The Orb – “Perpetual Dawn”
Also with three weeks are The Orb with this re-release, which descends eighteen places to leave the upper half of the chart.

32. Red Hot Chilli Peppers – “Give It Away”
Dropping even greater are the Red Hot Chilli Peppers with their first top ten hit here, which slides twenty one.

31. The Wildhearts – “Caffine Bomb”
British band The Wildhearts make their top 40 debut this week with this, their fourth single, having formed back in 1989.

30. The Gin Blossoms – “Hey Jealousy”
The Gin Blossoms made their debut three weeks ago, but have taken this one as far as they can as it drops back six places.

29. DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince – “Can’t Wait To Be With You”
TV stars and former chart toppers DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince are back for 1994 with this new entry, which is their fourth on the UK top 40.

28. Saint Etienne – “Pale Movie”
Also back in 1994 are Saint Etienne with a new entry, last seen bidding for a Christmas hit with “I Was Born On Christmas Day”.

27. NKOTB – “Dirty Dawg”
NTOTB stands for New Kids On The Block! Yes, you remember them! After a gap of over two years, they are back with this new entry.

26. Joe Roberts – “Lover”
Joe Roberts goes down four this week with his debut release. The singer released his debut album, “Looking For The Here And Now”, at the end of 1993.

25. Chaka Demus and Pliers – “Twist And Shout”
Chart toppers Chaka Demus and Pliers are still about, now ten weeks in and down eleven places with their former number one.

24. Richard Marx – “Now And Forever”
Going down seven this week is Richard Marx with his brand new track, his first top 40 showing since “Take This Time” in 1992.

23. Culture Beat – “Anything”
Culture Beat could have released anything, but instead they released this single, which falls ten places in week six.

22. Atlantic Ocean – “Waterfall”
We welcome Dutch duo Atlantic Ocean to the UK top 40 this week with their debut single, which is a new entry six after its release.

21. The Proclaimers – “Let’s Get Married”
Brothers Charlie and Craig – The Proclaimers – are back with this new entry, which is their first to chart this high since “King Of The Road” in 1990!

20. Shara Nelson – “Uptight”
Shara Nelson got a new entry last week but she’s down one a week later with the latest single from “What Silence Knows”.

19. Sasha – “Higher Ground”
Dance act Sasha make their UK chart debut in the top twenty this week. The are lead by British DJ and producer Alexander Coe.

18. Urban Cookie Collective – “Sail Away”
The Urban Cookie Collective are back in 1994 with a third top twenty entry which follows on from “Feels Like Heaven” last November.

17. Haddaway – “I Miss You”
Ten weeks on and Haddaway is still top twenty with his most recent release, which is down just five places.

16. Meat Loaf – “Rock’N’Roll Dreams Come Through”
Here comes the man with last year’s biggest seller with the follow up to his eight week chart topper. But how far will this one go…?

15. Deep Forest – “Sweet Lullaby”
Deep Forest swept into the top ten last week, but that’s it as they drop five places, still singing their sweet tune.

14. The Cranberries – “Linger”
There is just ONE climber on this weeks chart amazingly, so as The Cranberries go up two, they are this week’s highest!

13. K7 – “Come Baby Come”
K7 departs the top ten, where he’s been for the past nine weeks with his debut single. It’s down six places.

12. Crowded House – “Locked Out”
Australian veterans Crowded House come back to the UK top twenty this year once again with this new entry.

11. Wendy Moten – “Come In Out Of The Rain”
Just dropping out of the UK top ten is Wendy Moten with her first hit here. She was last week’s highest climber but is down three places.

10. Reel 2 Real and The Man Stuntman – “I Like To Move It”
Not doing very well either are Reel 2 Real and The Man Stuntman. Their chart debut last week is down one place a week later.

9. 2 Unlimited – “Let The Beat Control Your Body”
Making a welcome return to the top ten are 2 Unlimited with a new entrym their first to make it this far since “Faces” last Summer.

8. Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting – “All For Love”
The three musketeers, Bryan, Rod and Sting, are still heroic and also still top ten, though down two places.

7. Cappella – “Move On Baby”
Scoring a hattrick are Dance act Cappella with this new entry that gives them three UK top ten hits in a row!

6. Aretha Franklin – “A Deeper Love”
With all but one falling this week, that also goes for last week’s highest new entry from Aretha Franklin, who slips out of the top five, down one place.

5. Celine Dion – “The Power Of Love”
Celine Dion is also down one with her cover of the Jennifer Rush number one hit from 1985. She did take this to the top in America last year, however.

4. Enigma – “Return To Innocence”
The return to the top of the UK chart has not been possible for Enigma this week as they also drop down one place.

3. Toni Braxton – “Breathe Again”
And keeping up with the Jones’ is Toni Braxton, who also falls one, having been the number two hit for the past two weeks.

2. D:Ream – “Things Can Only Get Better”
And here comes another one down one, it’s the now former number one from D:Ream as they are pushed off the top after four weeks.

1. Mariah Carey – “Without You”
So we have a new number one and it’s congratulations to Mariah Carey who not only scores this weeks highest new entry but her first UK chart topping single with a cover of Harry Nilsson’s song from 1971! Can she keep it, or will someone else move in this time next week? There is only one way to find out…
