We thought it was about time that we caught up with the Tropic boys – Jo-B Sebastian Phuse (Jarel Hill) – it has amazingly been over three years since we met them.
Back in 2018, they had just released their debut single, “Breathe Again” and followed that with “Bittersweet” and it all seemed so promising.
Since then, Tropic have armed themselves with a dozen, yup 12 more tracks including the recent “Slave To The Rhythm” (no, not the Grace Jones classic!). They have followed this with their seductive new single, “Be The One”, which could so easily be one of those soul/R&B down-tempo tracks of the late 1980’s courtesy of Luther Vandross or Alexander O’Neal. This is a midnight sensual groove with Tropic’s now well embedded soothing vocals which can hit any number of notes, high or low.
Tropic tell us: “Sometimes we all need someone to tell us that everything’s gonna be all right, and if we could only see ourselves through the eyes of our loved ones maybe we wouldn’t be so harsh on ourselves. As a queer duo, acceptance and positivity are virtues we fight for. We all sometimes struggle to see our worth and find it hard to accept the love we’re given. We hope our new song ‘Be the One’ can be a reminder that we are all worthy of love, worthy of acceptance, and that we’re not alone”.
Make sure you check out their recent tracks “Alive”, “Always Be My Baby” and the aforementioned “Slave To The Rhythm” for Tropic at their level up-tempo best and chill to the awesome new tune, “Be The One”. Keep it coming boys!
